Fox lungworm
Ben has tested positive for a low count of fox lungworm (Crenosoma vulpis).
I have a kitchen drain that needs rodding as it is slow to drain and just after he arrived I caught him licking the residue around the edge. Ugh.. He must have sniffed a bit of food debris that went down the plughole. Why am I surprised? This is a dog who will eat his own vomit. I suspect there will have been slugs and snails round there hence the infection.
Fortunately this is the less serious lungworm. Most favoured treatment here in the UK is one treatment of Advocate. I'm giving two just to be sure and starting on Verm X. Will have him retested in a couple of months. Would rather not dose with something like Advocate regularly.
Just wondered if anyone had encountered this?
