Ember it wasn't that bad separating them because Murphy would typically hang with the girls and Maddie would hang with me but the problem with that was it separates the family.

Thanks everyone.

It's been a journey and I know it's not complete and might never be perfect but yes I've learnt a lot and feel I'm a much better dog person now.

I should probably update the dog psychologist.

I hope I haven't come across as being overly critical of her. I do agree that the dogs need to be separated initially.

But, she was of the view harmony couldn't be achieved so quick and I think I've proven her to be wrong on that front. One thing that is strange,. When she came to see us and the dogs, she spent 3-4 hours at my house but only spent about 5 mins with Maddie and only about 1 minute with the two dogs in the same room. She didn't really spend much time observing the dogs which was odd.

I guess at the end of the day dogs are animals so it is maybe asking too much of her to be totally correct. Who'd have thought the girls could get along so soon??

I think someone gave the advice that if I'm not happy with the dog psychologist or don't agree with her totally that I should not think she is the be all and end all, and that it is OK to look at other options. That's what I did in the end, taking things into my own hands so to speak. Thanks to whoever gave that advice. I'm sure it lurked in the back of my mind.

That's great news, I bet this has been quite the learning experience and you should feel deservedly proud of what you have achieved.

This is awesome news.
Perhaps seeing triggers and early tensions and addressing them was enough.
This must be a weight off your shoulders.
