Fireworks rant

Okay, I don't know why that made me giggle. I imagined that all like a movie scene. It is no fun for you but I bet they got a huge heart attack with those lights. And I would have had some choice words on that sign. I believe they won't be back either.

The problem where I live is the police don't care. You know those loud fireworks that are used at the big community shows? I could go buy lots of them right now at the reservation store. I'm not supposed to lite them off reservation land and it isn't legal for me to bring them into my neighborhood to lite them but I could have a two hour show at my house and would never see a police officer (unless he came to watch the show).

We did want to go and confront them in the dark last night. No way of knowing if they had guns and nothing stopping them from aiming the fireworks at us.
We did flash a couple of very bright lights their way and I think they got the hint because it all stopped quickly. We did look at the area this morning and found a mess of cans and fireworks. Seems they made a quick exit. They drove off our land and into someone elses woods.
The next time we see the owner of the woods we will ask if they had guests.

Fred put some big posts, with signs, in the path they made with their vehicles. I don't think they will be back tonight.

Wise move to stay out of it at the time. They are already showing what type of people they are at this point, when they show no respect for other peoples property. Even if you didn't have posts, common sense suggests it belongs to someone and it is not theirs so decency says, "stay off". We have a similar issue with city folk coming hunting in our area. They just see all this land and forrest area and think it is free for all. Fact is, pretty much all land belongs to someone be it private or Gov't so it simply isn't OK to just do what you want. Cattle and horses get accidentally killed and humans using their own land could be killed from stray bullets.
In the past I have had people set up camp. As I approached riding a mower with the deck up, they waved me away, pointing at their washing line strung between trees. As I turned the mower off and got off they came up with rather rude and impatient attitudes saying, "can't you see the wet washing, you'll get dust all over it." Well, I had intended to be polite but saw red and replied, "get your washing down and bugger off or dust will be least of your troubles, I'll tare it down and mow over it if you don't get moving NOW.

My neighbors go up to South Carolina and buy mortars. Those are the huge ones that cities use in their big displays. They are illegal here, but no one is enforcing it. Everyone lights them off for days before and until around midnight the day of. They also shoot off guns a lot. Everyone here has their own range, which means a clear spot and a big mound of dirt.

My boys were mildly anxious in previous years, but Micah has gotten a bit more anxious about other things this year and Lily is just plain terrified, so we got everyone Thundershirts this year.
Gotta love 'em.

Ember is suddenly acting out a bit. I'm having to watch her. I don't know if it's fireworks related, but last night she had a really hard time picking a spot to poop, something she has only ever done in the rain. And it wasn't sounds that seemed to make it hard, it was literally like she started to go then got completely distracted. And when there WERE fireworks, she'd startle just a little and look up, then go back to what she was doing like nothing happened. So I don't know. She's also eating less (my mother thinks I'm starving her and has been adding food to her bowl "behind my back" but I've been watching). I don't know what's going on at this point but for now I'm gonna say maybe she finally has so little to worry about that fireworks are kinda hitting her radar now? I dunno.
